Welcome to the final day of Remote Central’s
Week of Advanced PlayStation 3 Control! Each day over this past week we’ve brought you new reviews of sophisticated infrared-to-Bluetooth adapters that offer universal remote control owners uncompromising control over their Sony PS3 game console. Whether you use the system as a Blu-ray disc player, a music player, a video streamer or even an actual game system, these advanced converters offer you from-the-couch convenience to turn the PS3 on and off, along with a full complement of 51 different functions.
Today our review concludes with full coverage of one of the newest adapters to hit the market, the Schmartz PS3IR-1000, which just started shipping earlier this month. But we’re not done yet – our 6-part review of 6 products is now a 6-part review of 7 products with an announcement from Schmartz Inc. within the last 12 hours of yet another new PS3 infrared-to-Bluetooth adapter, the PS3IR-500. The PS3IR-500 is now the least expensive complete PS3 adapter on the market, and yet shares many similarities with its big brother – although, of course, there are fewer advanced features. Our review today of the PS3IR-1000 is already up-to-date with details on the PS3IR-500 and what’s different. The PS3IR-500 is expected to ship by June 15th.
Also posted today is our conclusion page, a handy detailed feature comparison chart, and since none of the adapters that use Sony DVD/PS2 codes share the exact same command mappings, I’ve also created a command comparison chart to help highlight the differences.

As it turns out, those who do not learn from history... still won't repeat it.
We take a look at Sony's economy DVR control as well as their speciality big buttoned unit.
