In the pipeline...

RCA/Thompson Pop

Tidbits The latest remote control concept design is from RCA/Thompson and is titled the POP Remote. It includes a desktop recharging stand, flexible RF antenna and a small color LCD screen that allows you to watch a different television program from what's on the main television screen. A large swap button flips the screens back and forth - talk about taking PIP to a whole new level! This remote or something similar to it will most likely find it's way bundled with high-end HDTV television sets.

Samsung Slingshot

Another of the more interesting prototypes I've seen lately comes from Samsung and is aptly named the Slingshot. This stylishly designed universal remote control not only features two-way communications and a bright color touch-sensitive LCD, but also a mini television for previewing channels... or watching on the side! No word yet on when -- or if -- it will become available, but it certainly does create an interesting picture of what we'll be using to control our home theater systems in the near future.

Have you seen an interesting prototype remote control design? Send us the information and we'll add it!
